Booth's decision to leave Houghton, Mifflin, & Co., and the prospects of finding work elsewhere; a trip by MItchell Kennerly, the possibility of Allen Upward writing for "Everybody's Magazine," and the necessity for articles of broad, general lines and American interest; and working for and leaving Collier's Weekly. A letter from Fremont Older discusses being tied up in the investigation of "crooks," a corruption case involving Francis Joseph Henry, William J. Burns, Theodore Roosevelt, James D. Phelan and Rudolph Spreckels. Letters to and from E. J. St. John discusses Hermann Hille's medical work, great scientific discovery and financial independence; an introduction to the [William?] Hards during a planned trip to Chicago; and his own desire to inform the public about medical advances in the "Delineator."
